Both proteins are derived from a single source. Both appeal to buyers who want a high-protein, low-calorie post-workout shake, but do either brand do enough to earn trust in what is being marketed on the label? Alpha Lion tries to impress you with more label claims, louder performance branding, and premium positioning.
Then you look at MyProtein, it’s a no-frills option, with third-party verification. Keep reading to find out which is the better post-workout purchase.

There are a lot of positives for Alpha Lion: on-label amino acid profile, a branded whey protein isolate source, great mixability, and Saturday morning cartoon-infused flavors. For a premium-branded protein, there is a lot to like. So what’s my problem? The third-party verification and toxicology reports are nonexistent for a brand that advertises “100% Transparency,” and there is no protein quality check for a self-advertised “no amino spiking” phrase.
Now, MyProtein is no saint. Requesting an amino acid profile, toxicology report, and ingredient origins is hidden behind a proprietary barrier. With an Informed Protein verification offering amazing value (with questionable value), it’s difficult to deny the value per serving.

Alpha Lion clearly wins the label-detail round. Here’s why….
Information is readily available on the Alpha Lion product page and on the container. That matters because the product at least gives you enough numbers to judge whether the serving looks relevant for a solid post-workout shake. However, when we get into the potential amino spiking downfall, that’s where the wheels come off.
MyProtein is mildly annoying. I requested an amino acid profile through MyProtein Customer Service, and I’m still on hold. Some information is available on the packaging, like the 6g of BCAAs. Other than that, good luck getting an amino acid profile.
Winner: Alpha Lion. More public information is available. MyProtein’s customer service likes running laps around customers.
Does Either Brand Show Signs of Amino Spiking?
One brand is verified by Informed Protein; the other brand advertises “no amino spiking.”
Alpha Lion looks less due to self-proclaimed “100% Transparency” and “No Amino Spiking” statements. However, there is no third-party verification for those claims. The one asterisk about Alpha Lion is the use of Natural and Artificial flavors. Even though it’s listed near the bottom of the ingredient list, I wouldn’t be surprised if the protein number is cooked.
MyProtein’s Impact Whey Isolate shares Informed Protein verified. That’s great. However, when you start asking that difficult question, “Can I see the amino acid profile?” You are met with either “I’ll get back to you” or “Proprietary.”

As you already know, MyProtein advertises that Informed Protein badge on the webpage. Plus, if you’re a tested athlete, seeing that Informed Choice provides another level of security for what you are actually buying.
Alpha Lion has all the checkmarks of self-proclaimed quality: testing for purity, potency, microbes, and heavy metals. When you take it one step further, requesting a CoA or even a toxicology report, I was met with more reassurance than paperwork.
Winner: If you are a proof-first buyer, MyProtein is the easier buy.

Alpha Lion is the food science fair. Yes, offering a premium look, printed amino profile, and the kind of label presentation that wants to be admired from a flattering angle. However, that ingredient list is quite extensive and processed for a premium-priced protein. Honestly, you would see that list on a budget protein, but on a premium one?
MyProtein’s ingredient profile is minimal. It’s an isolate with sucralose, flavors, and soy-thickening. What else do you need to say?
