The reason why I feel buying grass-fed or organic protein powders is there is always a manufacturing process to get the liquid whey to the powder. During the processing of the protein, it will be enriched with non-organic ingredients. Amazon Grass Fed Whey Protein, Value

As with anything purchased through Amazon, it usually ends up being the lowest-priced item. The negative is that you have to wait for your purchase via mail. What did I pay?

I paid a total of $22.10 for a 2-pound container with 30 servings. Shipping was free because I have a Prime membership.

.73 cents for an isolate with 25 grams of protein is CRAZY! If you want a comparison to other recognized brands

Compared to recognized and similar grass fed proteints, you can’t beat the value that Amazon is offering with their grass-fed isolate.

Value: 10. Comparing apples-to-apples, this is obviously a win for Amazon. At almost .70 cents per serving, I’m not sure how much more value you would want from a grass-fed isolate. You can make the argument that Amazon should be offering a 5-pound container. Let’s say they did offer a larger value container at $50 with 79 servings, you’re looking at .63 per serving. At that point, you’re asking for convenience, rather than value.

Amazon Brand Protein Powder Spiking List

You know how much I love a clean looking label that isn’t filled with jargon, graphs, and scientific studies. There are no confusing statements about Amazon’s grass fed protein, there isn’t supplement facts stating enriched with BCAAs.

There is a label stating that each batch is tested with potency, purity, and integrity. Even more, they have a try-it label. Not happy with their grass fed protein, full refund within one year. How Does Amazon Elements Grass Fed Protein Mix?

You know how the label provides directions to mix with 4-8 fl oz. of liquid with 1 scoop of the powder. Those directions, 80% of the time, will always work. The other 20% of the time, the product is usually not of the highest quality.

Mixing this grass fed protein as directed by the manufacturing directions works great with milk and water. If you’re like me, your protein intake per every meal needs to have at least 30-50g of protein. One scoop of protein isn’t going to cut it post-workout, you’re going to need 1.5 to 2 scoops.

That is where you’re going to have issues. What’s odd is when you mix 2 scoops with milk or nut milk, with extended shaking time, it comes out fine. When mixing with water, clumping on the sides and at the lip of the bottle becomes an annoyance.

Is it a deal-breaker? No.

Mixability: 7.5. If you follow the directions, it does what it is supposed to do. But if you have to change the mixing directions, that’s when the clumping begins. Mixes surprisingly well with milk and nut milk. Unfortunately, if you’re going to use this for a post-workout shake, no one is going to be carrying around milk in their gym bag.

Amazon’s Grad Fed Protein Ingredient Profile

A total of 7 ingredients are used in this grass fed protein.

What is surprising to read on the label is how the farmers feed the cows during the winter months. I’m not sure if it’s part of government regulation or maybe it’s just the farmer giving full disclosure. But the cows “in the winter months are enriched with vitamins and minerals” to meet their nutritional needs. Other grass-fed protein brands don’t have that statement on their labels. It’s a nice touch.

What I don’t like about this ingredient profile is the use of stevia. I don’t have a problem with stevia, it’s the amount of stevia being used and it affects the taste. Just like in my unbiased MyProtein review, I stated a similar issue.

Ingredient Profile: 9. I will usually score a product that has 7 or fewer ingredients with a score of 9.5. FYI, a perfect 10 doesn’t exist in the supplement world, you’d be eating whole food. The reason for the 9 is the stevia is over-powering. If Amazon had nailed the right amount of stevia used in this grass fed protein, it would have received the highest possible score.

100% grass fed whey, no fillers. This grass fed protein compares favorably to Optimum Nutrition’s Performance Whey Isolate. I’m not saying it’s a better protein. I’m suggesting you’re getting a product that is similar in value. Yes, I would like to have more protein in a serving, but I’m splitting hairs.

For comparison’s sake, here are Optimum Nutrition’s Performance Whey Isolate macros

• Calories 140 (1 serving is 38g)
• Total Fat 1g
• Total Carbohydrates 3g; Fiber 1g

Macro Composition: 9.5. Identical profile to Optimum Nutrition’s Performance Whey Isolate. If you want more calories and more protein, go with ON. However, Amazon Element is the same product with fewer calories and protein.

Hoes Does Amazon Elements Grass Fed Protein Taste?

This is where Amazon Elements needs to improve.

In my opinion and using my taste buds, I have to drink this product with either milk or nut milk. If you use water, expect a really sweet taste that borderlines with medicine after-taste.

When using milk, it covers up the after-taste. Everyone is different, you might find the taste tolerable.

Flavor: 7. Water is a no-go with this product in my opinion. Using milk or nut milk covers up the flavor profile of this protein. Personally speaking, mixing with water is tolerable, but not enjoyable. When using water, expect a sweet medicine flavor.

Final Word on Amazon’s Grass Fed Protein Powder

I’m very surprised with the value I received with Amazon Elements Grass-Fed 100% Whey Protein Isolate Powder. It wasn’t expensive, it’s a grass-fed protein, a product with a good amount of protein per serving. This protein compares very well to Optimum Nutrition Performance Whey Isolate.

In my flavor review of ON Performance Whey Isolate, I simply said it was “chocolate water.” The taste was there, but not overbearing. In my opinion, you’re better off having a “just there” flavor, compared to a “I refuse to drink this protein with water” flavor. Am I going to take advantage of the 1-800 number because the flavor profile that bad? No.

That being said, Amazon Elements Grass-Fed Protein Isolate is a great product and is worth every penny. ON’s Performance Whey is priced around $35 compared to Amazon’s Elements average price of $25. At .73 per serving, you’re not going to get a better product at that price range.
