Orgain Sport Protein Review (Sport Powered Protein)
This is my first plant based protein review. A friend wanted to know my thoughts on this brand of plant protein before they made a purchase. Here is a Orgain Sport Protein Review.
Iāve never personally have heard or read about any Orgain supplement products. Look at their website, they offer a wide variety of products protein powders (vegan, grass fed whey, keto protein, and collagen). OF COURSE, each protein supplement company has to provide their own version of a protein loaded pancake mix.
- Made without Soy
- No Dairy Ingredients
- Non-GMO
- Gluten Free
- Vegan
- 6g of Fiber
If itās on the bottle, itās up for review. Letās dive into the review and see if this protein is worth your money?

Value
I purchased Orgainās Sport Protein Chocolate on sale at Amazon. At the time of purchase, it was priced at $23.58. Off sale normal price is $35.88.
If you purchase the protein direct from the website, a one time purchase is $39.99. However, you can a major savings on your first time order ($10) if you do subscribe and save, $29.99. Every order after your first order, the price will be $35.99.
As always, the lowest price is through Amazon. Iāll be using the normal everyday price. If you do see this protein at anything less than $25, BUY IT! If youāre wondering about the price of Vanilla, at the time of this writing itās priced at $26.99. Iām not sure on the flavor profile.
- 2.01 pound container with 16 servings, every day price of $35.88, $2.24 per serving.
Value 7. It would be easy for me to give this product a lower score when compared with all protein on the market. However, Orgain is a USDA certified organic product. When compared to other contemporaries on the plant based market, $35 is about the average price. As stated before, if you see this product on sale for around $25, just buy it!
Protein Spiking
Itās not protein spiked!
Thatās a big benefit of plant based protein. Would I like to see an Amino profileāYUP! If youāre someone who is a Vegan, this is more than worth your money.
Protein Spiking 10 (Itās not spiked).
Mixability
The first time you pick up Orgainās Sport Protein container, youāre going to notice the weight. Youāll double-check the container to see if it weighs more than 2-pounds. Simply put, this sucker is DENSE. This is going to be a THICC protein shake!
Does it mix? That is the question.
Yes. No clumps at all. Howeverā¦
STAY WITHIN THE MANUFACTURES DIRECTIONS!
- 2 scoops of protein powder
- Add in 14-16 oz. of WATER or ALMOND MILK.
I think it will be fine if you use a different nut milk like oats, something that isnāt thicc.
Usually I experiment by adding it to my oatmeal. I personally wouldnāt recommend it. I donāt think this is a protein you would want to use for cooking. There is a nice smoothie recipe on the bottle if that is your thing.
Mixability 10. The best way to describe the consistency (viscosity is a better adjective), a really thick chocolate milk. Almost like a malted milk shake, thick.
Ingredient Profile
As I shared with you earlier, this product is certified organic by the USDA.
Everything in this product is organic. When you start reading the ingredient profile, you will be surprised. I WAS SURPRISED! A vegetable and fruit blend. A creamer base to give this product a nice thickness when you drink it.
THEREāS NO SOY!!! Iām someone who can not tolerate soy products. Itās nice to know this product is soy free!
Ingredient Profile 9.5. Even though this product is certified organic by USDA. One of the things Iām looking for in the ingredient profile list is non-essential ingredients. As much as I love the profile list, Xanthan gum is in this product, thickening agent. Erythritol is also in this product, which is a flavor enhancer normally found in gums and keto supplements.
Macro Composition
Serving size is 2 scoops (57g)
- 200 Calories
- Total Fat 7g
- Total Carbohydrate 14g
- Dietary Fiber 6g
- Erythritol 5g
- Net Carbs 3g
- Protein 30g
My only gripe with this product is the amount of sodium per serving, which is alarming.
- Sodium 400 mg
Examining other organic plant based proteins, itās normal to have high amounts of sodium. That says something about plant based proteins without flavor enhancersā¦
THEY WOULD BE DISGUSTING!
As I said above in the ingredient list, there are a couple of ingredients used to enhance the flavor of this product (Xanthan Gum and Erythritol).
Macro Composition 8. When compared to other plant based proteins, itās what I would expect. Other plant based protein powder will have more protein per serving, at the cost of more calories and sodium. Others will have less protein without the fiber.
Flavor
The first time you drink this, you might be on the fence. Likeā¦ Am I drinking curdled milk (if youāre a milk drinker) or should I spit it out?!
After your first sip, you start processing the thickness of the protein. Trying to associate the thickness to something you know. For me it was a malted ice cream milk shake. Once you get past the concept that youāre drinking a plant based pea protein, itās not bad!
In the past, Iāve tried a sample serving of pea protein and it was YUCK! Does it taste like chocolate? YES! Is it the best tasting protein powder? No.
Flavor 8. This plant based chocolate protein will taste better than a majority of the cheap chocolate protein in a big-box retailer. Once youāre able to associate the thickness to something familiar (thatās going to be the major hurdle for anyone that drinks this), itās surprisingly great for a pea protein!
Final Thoughts
Plant based proteins will be avoided by some people because āitāll taste like peas.ā This is not the case with Orgainās Sport Protein.
By all means, itās not perfect. There are some great benefits with this product
ā 6g of Fiber
ā Surprising Vegetable and Fruit Blend
ā No Soy, Gluten Free, Vegan and GMO-Free
ā A great tasting chocolate protein
For some, $35 can be steep for 16 servings. However, if you see a sale, on this proteinā¦ BUY IT!
This protein may be too thick for some people, especially post-workout. Itās not made for baking or cooking. However, this is probably one of the best protein meal replacement on the market if youāre looking to shed some weight.
Orgain Protein Final Review Score
Value 7 out of 10
Protein Spiking 10 out of 10 (not spiked)
Mixability 10 out of 10
Ingredient Profile out 9.5 of 10
Macro Composition 8 out of 10
Flavor 8 out of 10
Overall Score 52.5/60, 87.5%, Great!
