Gorilla Mode Protein Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

2.6

In this Gorilla Mode Protein Review, we dig deep into a product that promises a lot. 🦍 While flavors like Cinnamon Churro may catch your attention, concerns about the ingredient quality raise red flags. 🧪 The low carbohydrate count for a flavored protein is suspicious, and their third-party certifier, Dyad Labs, has a history of approving amino-spiked powders.
Mixability is decent, but the “full transparency” and “cold-processed protein” claims fall flat. Potential ingredient omissions and signs of amino spiking make it hard to justify the price.

  • Mixes well 💧
  • Great taste 🍫
  • Possible amino spiking ⚠️
  • No amino acid profile disclosure ❌
  • High price for questionable quality 💸
  • False transparency claims 🕵️‍♂️
  • Low-quality whey 🧬

🏋️‍♂️ Perfect for Post-Workout, Not a Meal Replacement

Lacking slow-digesting proteins, Gorilla Mode is your go-to for post-exercise recovery, not meal replacement.

🤸 How Much Gorilla Mode Protein to Maximize Muscle Growth?

To hit that sweet spot of 25 grams of protein and 3 grams of leucine, Gorilla Mode Whey Protein offers 25 grams of protein with 2.7 grams of leucine. You’re looking at 1.2 scoops (42.9g serving) for optimal post-workout recovery and muscle growth.

Unfortunately, we know that Gorilla Mode Protein is amino-spiked. I would aim for at least 1.5 scoops if you’re using water. Aim for eight fluid ounces of skim milk with one scoop of Gorilla Mode Protein if you’re using high-protein skim milk.

🛒 Where is Gorilla Mode Sold?

When eyeing Gorilla Mode Premium Protein, your options are GorillaMind.com or Amazon. To avoid unnecessary hassles, opt for Amazon.

Gorilla Mind:

Shopping direct from Gorilla Mind isn’t exactly brimming with benefits. Sure, they offer free S&H in the continental US for orders over $150 and international freebies for carts exceeding $215. The payment options are broader, but here’s the kicker: Mandatory FedEx shipping costs you a hefty $17.12. Priced at $44.99 for 30 servings, you’re shelling out $1.50 per serving.

Amazon:

This is where the game changes. Amazon rolls out the red carpet for Prime Members with free S&H. Sure, you might have to wait a tad longer than the typical 2-day promise, but it’s a small price for convenience and savings.

💸 Money-Back Guarantee

Remember that once you crack open that container, there’s no turning back. There are no returns on opened products.

Value: 6 out of 10. My two cents? Skip the direct purchase from Gorilla Mind. For a wallet-friendly experience and the ease of Prime shipping, Amazon is your best bet for snagging Gorilla Mode Premium Protein.

📌 Is Gorilla Mode Premium Protein Amino Spiked?

Navigating the protein powder landscape, the question looms: Is Gorilla Mode Premium Protein amino spiked? GorillaMind.com asserts, “Fully transparent, 30 servings, high-quality whey protein, WITHOUT amino spiking,” adorning the container with a “Full Transparency Protein” badge.

Flashback to Mark Wahlberg’s Isolate scenario, where transparency was the mantra, yet an amino acid profile remained elusive. On the flip side, Ghost Protein lays it all out, detailing protein specifics. So, I contacted Gorilla Mind on January 31 for that all-revealing amino acid profile. Tick-tock, the wait continues.

⬆️ Gorilla Mode Amino Acid Update

I got an update on February 4. I now have an official amino acid profile for Gorilla Mode.

Unbiased Gorilla Mode Protein Powder Review
Gorilla Mode amino acid profile.

🔬 Gorilla Mode Protein Powder Amino Acid Profile Review

The company that creates the amino acid profile, Dyad Labs, is associated with these protein powders I’ve reviewed.

Why is this a problem? My research has found that Dyad Labs knowingly certifies amino-spiked protein powders. It is also my professional opinion that the supplier for Gorilla Mode Protein knows the protein is amino-spiked with aspartic acid, cysteine, and glutamic acid as substitutes for traditional emulsifying salts in cheese.

A BYU article, “Amino Acids as Alternatives to Emulsifying Salts in Processed Cheese Analogues,” highlights this shift, which aligns with clean-labeling trends and reduces sodium content, promoting healthier food options.

⚠️ Is Gorilla Mode Amino Spiked?

I’ve seen this tactic before with other protein powders, especially when writing my Ghost Protein Review. Provide “Full Protein Transparency” claims and “No Amino Spiking” without a recognized 3rd party supporting those claims. Do I believe Gorilla Mode amino spiked? Yes. Here’s why.

A key red flag is the low carbohydrate count. Gorilla Mode Protein claims to offer zero net carbs after subtracting sugars, but this should raise eyebrows. Authentic, high-quality whey proteins often contain at least 1 gram of carbs due to the natural presence of lactose in the whey. For example, AGN Roots, a verified unflavored whey protein, contains 1 gram of carbs, which is normal for a clean, unprocessed product.

When a protein powder claims to have zero carbs, it raises suspicion that fillers like amino acids (aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid) may be used to artificially inflate the protein content while masking the true composition of the product.

Additionally, Dyad Labs—responsible for verifying Gorilla Mode Protein—has previously certified other amino-spiked products I’ve reviewed. Now, we can add Gorilla Mode to that list. Based on the amino acid profile, I strongly believe Gorilla Mode Protein mimics Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey.

🥼 Gorilla Mode vs Optimum Nutrition Amino Acid Comparison

Gorilla Mode Protein and Optimum Nutrition Whey do not practice amino acid spiking. The difference between the brands is that one is a globally recognized brand leader, and the other hrives on social media advertising. Let’s compare the amino acid profile between Gorilla Mode Protein vs Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey.

However, after closely examining Gorilla Mode Protein, I claim it is amino spiked due to the following:

  1. Low Carbohydrate Content for a Flavored Protein Powder: The listed carbohydrate content is suspiciously low for a flavored protein, raising red flags about the authenticity of its composition.
  2. Certifying Agency with a History of Approving Amino-Spiked Products: Dyad Labs, a third-party agency, has certified other protein powders with amino spiking issues, which raises doubts about Gorilla Mode’s quality.
  3. Amino Acid Profile Mirroring Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey: The striking similarity in the amino acid profiles between Gorilla Mode and Optimum Nutrition suggests possible mimicry rather than genuine formulation, further suggesting amino spiking.

Let’s compare the two amino acid profiles and let the table speak for itself:

📜 Gorilla Mode Protein Powder: The 3rd Party Testing Saga

Is Gorilla Mode Protein Good?
Dyad Labs likes to certify amino-spiked protein powders.

Gorilla Mind trumpets ingredient transparency to equip customers with the full intel to navigate their health choices wisely. What is the essence of third-party testing? It is a stamp of assurance that what’s on the label matches what’s on the tub, hitting all those high regulatory and industry marks.

Here’s where the plot thickens—amino spiking, even though Gorilla Mode’s nutrients proudly bear the approval of the Dyad Labs (Salt Lake City, Utah).

Amino Spiking: 1 out of 10. The amino acid profile mirrors a globally recognized brand. It may not scream “amino spiked.” However, examining the nutrient content shows that the naturally occurring amount of carbohydrates for any of their flavored proteins is not enough to support Gorilla Mode Proteins’ claim of “No Amino Spiking.”

🗽 Where Does Gorilla Mode Get Its Protein?

The enigmatic tag “Made in America with international ingredients ” takes center stage with Gorilla Mode Protein. When protein powders nod to their global roots, Europe often enters the chat, typically heralded by buzzwords like hormone-free dairy or rGBH Whey.

Could Canada be the source, or perhaps an even more distant locale like South America? The plot thickens. I reached out for a breakdown of my country of origin, but I’m not exactly on the edge of my seat and await a response.

⬆️ Where Does Gorilla Mode Get Its Protein: Update

I requested a list of ingredients in the country of origin. The disturbing part is that this is a similar boilerplate message received by people from Levels Grass Fed Protein: we source our sweeteners internationally.

With Gorilla Mode, the representative shared that the sweeteners are internationally sourced from China. Call me skeptical, but the most expensive part of the protein is the whey protein.

Mind you, this is also a supplement company that used Canva for its official logo, which is found on all its products. I’m not buying the claim that the “sweeteners are sourced from China.”

Unbiased Gorilla Mode Protein Powder Review
I’m supposed to believe only the sweeteners are from China, right? Levels Protein uses the same statement.

Unbiased Levels Grass Fed 100% Whey Protein Review
I didn’t have an issue with international ingredients. Those international ingredients should not be protein in protein powders.

Ingredients List: 6 out of 10. Its concise lineup is bolstered by adding digestive enzymes—a thoughtful touch. But here’s the twist: despite the loud proclamation of “Full Transparent Protein,” the specifics of these enzymes remain in mystery—a peculiar move for a brand boasting about its openness.

UPDATE: Full transparency is just a term associated with Gorilla Protein. Gorilla Mode’s protein source may be from China.

🍨 Is Gorilla Mode Premium Protein Lactose-Free?

Gorilla Mode Premium Protein touts itself as “nearly lactose-free,” a claim that echoes the familiar chorus sung by cold-processed protein powders like Pure Choice Farms and Levels Grass Fed.

But here’s the catch: if it’s already nearly devoid of lactose, why is there a need for lactase, the lactose-busting enzyme?

My encounter with Gorilla Mode left a subtle footprint of bloating, hinting that its protein pedigree might not be top-tier. The presence of papain and lactase is commendable, yet it subtly whispers a tale of protein sources that might not be the cream of the crop.

Nutrition Facts: 6 out of 10. Averaging the two flavors I sampled, Gorilla Mode hovers around 71% protein per serving. However, we already know that Gorilla Mode Protein powder is amino spiked.

👌 Which Gorilla Mode Flavor is Best?

Are you embarking on the Gorilla Mode flavor safari? Let’s separate the bland from the grand:

🍩 Churro (7.5): A chameleon of tastes. It starts with a curious medicinal twist, swiftly vanishing into the ether. While it teases your senses with the scent of churro straight from the wrapper, the flavor itself is a fleeting whisper of churro goodness. It’s a commendable effort, but it’s like chasing a flavor mirage.

🍫 Milk Chocolate (8.5): Now we’re talking! Steer clear of medicinal mishaps here. Scooping it out, you’re greeted with a promise of a chocolatey journey. It’s like sipping on a thick, indulgent chocolate milkshake sans the mischief of a malt shop.

But here’s a plot twist: there’s fiber mystery in the mix. The texture hints at a secret guest, perhaps milk protein isolate. I’m questioning whether all the ingredients are even listed. This is very similar to when I provided an Ekkovision Protein Powder. In that review, I shared that the thickness of the protein powder does not represent a two-protein blend of isolate and concentrate.

🍬  Gorilla Mode Protein Powder Flavors

Here are the flavors you can purchase through Gorilla Mind:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream: A classic symphony of creaminess.
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter: A decadent dance of cocoa and nutty notes.
  • Pumpkin Spice (Limited Edition): A seasonal serenade of warm, spiced notes.
  • Strawberry Banana: A fruity fiesta, vibrant and energizing.
  • Cinnamon Churro: A sweet spin with a spicy kick.
  • Milk Chocolate: A rich, velvety chocolate charm.
  • Cookies & Cream: A playful blend of creamy and crunchy.

🍫🍓🥜 Amazon Verdict: Gorilla Mode Protein Powder Review

4.6 stars from a chorus of 342 voices. Yet, amidst the acclaim, some notes of flavor amnesia, synthetic aftertastes, and tummy troubles echo through the reviews.

Chocolate Peanut Butter divides the crowd while Cookies & Cream and Strawberry Banana are spotlighted.

Flavor: 8 out of 10. My churro chase left me yearning, but the chocolate charm didn’t disappoint. Did Vanilla tempt you? It could be your flavor jackpot. Which flavor do you plunge into when diving into the protein pool first?

🏁 Gorilla Mode Protein Powder Review: Final Thoughts

At first glance, Gorilla Mode Protein promises the world, but digging deeper is like opening a mystery box.

Claims of “lactose-free ” and a boilerplate response of “we source our sweeteners from China” raise concerns about where this protein seal source is. And the chocolate flavor? It’s like a puzzle with a missing piece. The taste is spot on, but it echoes milk protein isolate vibes. Why the secrecy?

Companies boasting “full transparency ” often leave us with more questions than answers, banking on consumers not to peel back the layers.

But here’s the real scoop: amidst the ocean of protein powders, we deserve more than a great taste. We need substance, integrity, and real transparency.

It pays to do your due diligence in a world where anyone can make protein powder and market it aggressively. Based on my in-depth review, Gorilla Mode Protein might not be the treasure it’s supposed to be.

🦍 Is Gorilla Mode Protein Good?

Gorilla Mode Protein is not good. Here are my reasons why.

  1. Questionable Third-Party Certification: Dyad Labs, a Third-Party lab, has a history of certifying amino-spiked protein powders, which raises concerns about the integrity of Gorilla Mode Protein.
  2. Amino Spiking Concerns: The low carbohydrate content, with some servings claiming zero net carbs, is a red flag. Additionally, the amino acid profile of Gorilla Mode Protein mirrors that of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard a bit too closely, making it suspicious.
  3. False Transparency Claims: Despite the company’s claims of full protein transparency, no amino spiking, and cold-processed protein, these statements don’t hold up upon closer inspection. If the protein is truly “cold-processed,” why is there a need for digestive enzymes?
  4. Potential Ingredient Omission: I believe not all ingredients are listed. There’s a possibility that Gorilla Mode Protein may be using older, heavily processed whey, hiding behind misleading claims.

I’m curious to hear from you. Based on this review, would you consider trying Gorilla Mode Protein, or do you have a go-to protein you swear by? Let’s take notes in the comments below!
