📖 Is Clean Simple Eats Protein Good For You – Unbaised Review Details
December 2023 has seen a surge in protein powder requests. Among them, I received a sample of Clean Simple Eats’ Eggnog protein.
In my previous review of Clean Simple Eats protein, I praised its taste but noted that the protein content per serving was somewhat lacking. Furthermore, for an advertised grass fed protein, the amino acid was leaving more to be desired.

The holidays are an onslaught of constant bombardment of just trying to mange your weight and keep to your health and fitness goals in check.

🤯 Clean Simple Eats Grass Fed Whey Protein: Is It Worth It?
On every label of Clean Simple Eats protein powders, you will see the statement, “100% Grass Fed Whey.” How do we really know if Clean Simple Eats is coming from grass fed cows? We need to take a deep dive into the amino acid profile.
Grass Fed Whey Protein – What Makes It Better
AGN Roots offers an insightful article on why Grass Fed whey protein is worth the investment.
- Better Diet for Cows: Grass-fed cows eat natural grass, which helps make their milk (and the whey protein from it) of higher quality.
- Happier Cows: Cows that live in better conditions tend to be healthier. This means better quality milk for protein powder.
- Good for the Environment: Grass-fed cows are generally raised in a way that’s better for our planet compared to some other farming methods.
All protein contain nutrients called BCAAs. High levels of BCAAs in whey protein mean it’s of higher quality. Clean Simple Eats has updated its whey protein, which now shows higher levels of these nutrients. This could mean they are using better quality grass-fed whey.
Protein has a type of nutrients called BCAAs. Examining these BCAAs we can make an assessment of the quality of protein you are receiving. Simply put, the higher the quality of BCAAs, the higher the quality of protein.
Best Quality Grass Fed Whey Protein
What’s fantastic about the AGN article, guidelines are provided to see if the amino acid profile lines up with grass fed cows.
Even though the article is based off of 25 grams of protein, I did adjust the scale to 20 grams of protein per serving for Clean Simple Eats.
For Grass fed protein with 20 grams of protein:
- Below 3.44 grams: Likely from lower-quality sources, not prioritizing animal well-being.
- 3.44 – 3.92 grams: Average quality, possibly from standard whey processing plants.
- 3.92 – 4.56 grams: Good quality, likely grass-fed, but influenced by environmental factors.
- Above 4.56 grams: Excellent quality, indicative of predominantly grass-fed sources.
Original Clean Simple Eats Amino Acid Review Profile
Here is the BCAA break per serving, from my original Clean Simple Eats review
- Leucine 1.60g
- Isoleucine 1.00g
- Valine .93g
All of Clean Simple Eats protein powders have a listed 20 grams of protein per serving. In my opinion, 20 grams of protein is in-line with this amino acid profile.
Updated Clean Simple Eats Amino Acid Profile
Here is the updated amino acid profile that I received from Clean Simple Eats.
BCAA | 100 grams of protein | Per 33 gram CSE serving |
Leucine | 8.8 grams | 2.904 grams |
Isoleucine | 4.6 grams | 1.518 grams |
Valine | 4.4 grams | 1.452 grams |
I received a profile, but it lacked detailed information. I had some follow-up questions.
- Is this amino acid profile based off of 100g or protein or per serving
- Do you have an independent 3rd party test your protein powders?
This leads me to speculate that Clean Simple Eats has improved their protein quality. It’s possible they have changed protein providers to a higher quality. That’s the only reason for the increase of amino acid profile.
I never received any information about 3rd party testing.
The total amount of BCAAs in one serving of Clean Simple Eats is 3.56 grams. Using a modified version of AGN’s based off of 20 grams of protein:
The protein powder source used in Clear Simple Eats is most likely from an average grass fed supplier.
Amino Spiking 10 out of 10. It’s not spiked. It’s nice to see that Clean Simple Eats improved their amino acid profile. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting the highest quality grass fed whey. Clean Simple Eats worth it? Nope.
🤝 How To Use Clean Simple Eats Protein Powder
Given that we have a single-use packet, I aim to make this count.
- You can either use a shaker, blender, or spoon.
- Use 8 ounces of water or milk
If I’m remembering correctly, mixes just as I remember.
Protein Shake Mix 8.5 out of 10

🏋️♂️ Is Clean Simple Eats a Meal Replacement or Post Workout Shake?
Clean Simple Eats protein powder is 100% isolate. That means you are going to digest this shake within 30 to 45 minutes.
Ladies, for a post workout shake, one serving should be enough to stimulate muscle protein synthesis. Men, you may have to take 1.5 to 2 servings.
Two grams of fiber is going to be better than 0 grams of fiber for a meal replacement shake. Clean Simple Eats could work as a meal replacement, but you would have to mix with milk to slow digestion.
When you start getting into the 2 or more servings’ category, Xylitol may cause some problems in your tummy!
Nutrition Facts 5.5 out of 10. You expect more protein per serving from a grass fed whey. At 20 grams of protein per serving, Clean Simple Eats is not worth it.
😋 How Does Clean Simple Eats Eggnog Taste
I love eggnog! Of course, if you’re someone who drink an entire quart, those calories are going to catch up with you…
Did you know that the majority of regular eggnogs have more calories than a Jack’s Pizza?! That’s a big problem.
Enter Clean Simple Eats Eggnog protein powder.
Clean Simple Eats captures the eggnog flavor, though it lacks the rich thickness of traditional eggnog.
When you think about it, that thick and rich flavor you’re experiencing drinking eggnog is adding on to those calories. Clean Simple Eats eggnog is a great alternative.
Best Clean Simple Eats Protein Flavor
With 21 amazing flavors, you really can’t go wrong. I previously rated Coconut Cream Pie as an 8 and Chocolate Brownie Batter as a 10.
Looking at the reviews, everyone who buy from Clean Simple Eats is happy with flavor. You can’t go wrong.
Simply Vanilla | Coconut Cream | Mint Chocolate Cookie |
Strawberry Cheesecake | Peaches & Cream | Cotton Candy |
Caramel Toffee | Brownie Batter | Cookies ‘N Cream |
White Chocolate Peppermint | Banana Foster | Eggnog |
Maple Donut | German Chocolate Cake | Chocolate Peanut Butter |
Pumpkin Pie | Cake Batter | Snickerdoodle |
S’mores | Cinnamon Roll | Key Lime Pie |
Flavor 9 out of 10. It doesn’t matter which flavor you pick, you’re going to enjoy! Egg og is going to be lighter on the calories, but not short on flavor. If you’re looking for low calorie eggnogs that are not nut-based, you’ll like Clean Simple Eats eggnog. Totally worth it!
🎬 Is Clean Simple Eats Worth It – Final Thoughts
Determining whether Clean Simple Eats worth it depends on your wallet, flavor profile, and health and fitness goals.
If you’re focusing on weight loss who also value taste, Clean Simple Eats, with its flavorful protein powders and supportive community, can be an excellent choice.
Clean Simple Eats crushes it in the taste and mix category. In turn, putting a smile on your face when you slam down a shake.
For detail-oriented buyers, it’s concerning that you’re paying $60 for only 30 servings. At that price tag, that is especially steep. There are alternative brands offering more servings and a higher amino acid profile at that price.
Let’s talk about that amino acid profile.
Clean Simple Eats improved their amino acid profile by switching to a different grass fed whey provider. Even after doing that switch to a different whey provider, there are still cheaper protein powders with a superior amino acid profile than Clean Simple Eats.
With 20 grams of protein per serving, comparable to budget-priced powders, I expect more value from a premium-priced protein powder. You should expect more protein per serving at the premium price!
This brings me back to the original question: Is Clean Simple Eats worth it?
After doing this review, I don’t think Clean Simple Eats is worth it. Here are my reasons why
- 20 grams of protein per serving isn’t enough to shell out $60
- Only one price point, no big savings container
- You’re paying for a “grass fed whey” advertising stamp
If you’re looking for alternative grass fed whey protein powders, read the next section.

Grass Fed Whey Protein Alternative Brands
If you’re in the market for a grass fed whey protein, you’re going to spend a little money. Just be aware, some protein companies are going to advertise their protein powder as “grass fed.”
You need to read the ingredient lists and the amino acid profile.
Reading the ingredients list will help determine the quality of the protein powder. Some companies will use just whey protein concentrate. Other companies will use a protein blend (a combination of concentrate, isolate, collagen, casein, etc.).
Seeing an amino acid profile is beneficial to see if the protein powder could be potentially spiked. And of course, seeing a amino profile can help determine the quality of the grass fed protein.
As we learned with Clean Simple Eats, their protein is grass fed. Just not the highest grass fed protein. Just average.
Here are more reviewed choices of grass fed protein.
Pure Choice Farms
Not advertised as a grass fed isolate. Pure Choice Farms is going to be the cheapest one on the list. Also, by my rating metrics, Pure Choice Farms is the best protein you can purchase.
The amino acid profile is actually higher than AGN’s whey protein isolate. And has more protein per serving.
Pure Choice Farms is virtually lactose free and many price points are available to fit any budget.
Canadian Protein New Zealand Isolate
If you’re willing to wait for protein from Canada. Canadian Protein is a great selection.
You will be amazed by the amount of choices that are available to you when selecting the “level” of grass fed protein. Of course, if you want the highest amino acid profile, you’re going to be pay.
My knocks on Canadian Protein is the flavor and price.
Amazon Elements
I scored a container of Amazon Elements in 2020 for the low, low, low price of $23. Amazon Elements is no longer priced at $23.
Currently sitting at $86 a container. That is a tough recommendations. I would pass.
Opportuniteas
This company is the reason why do pictures of a scoop serving. Opportuniteas purposely placed a bigger scoop in their packaging. The suggested serving versus the actual serving is totally different.
In turn, you use more protein. Opportuniteas is technically the cheapest grass fed isolate in this list. This protein suffers the same fate as Clean Simple Eats: not the highest quality grass fed whey.
Grass Fed Proteins That Have Not Been Reviewed…Yet
The following protein powders I actually have in my possession. I just haven’t had the opportunity to assemble the written words and a video. I’ll give an unbiased and brief review on each one of these protein powders.
Antler Farms New Zealand Isolate Review
Antler Farms is the last of the special request protein powders in 2023.
Examining the label, ingredients, and amino acid profile. Antler Farms New Zealand Isolate is going to score in the 80%. My knock so far is the price.
Isn’t that the issue with all grass fed wheys?
Muscletech 100% Grass-Fed Whey Protein Review
I’m not a fan of Muscletech. Their 100% Grass-fed whey is a concentrate. If you’re sensitive to lactose, you’re going to experience GI issues. There is no amino acid profile on the label.
This one is going to score in the 70s.
Jocko Molk Review
I enjoyed reading Extreme Ownership by Jocko. Jocko’s protein supplement is reasonably priced.
Jocko’s protein powder is going to lumped in the same category as Clean Simple Eats: advertising hype.
This protein powder is going to score in the 70%.
Panda Supplements, Fuel Premium Protein Review
I purchased this protein because I got annoyed by their social media advertising. So I’m being the sucker for purchasing Panda Supplements protein powder.
Technically, not a grass-fed protein. But, grass-fed does appear on the label… Grass-fed collagen.
There is a lot to like about protein supplement: full transparency and digestive enzymes. Horribly over-priced.
Panda Sups Fuel Premium Protein is going to score in the 70s.
